12/16/25. Four hour duration track
https://youtu.be/-PffqtAtRr4?feature=shared
Leg 1 - scent pads at 10 and 20 - Good start, good tracking, rough turn
Leg 2 - article after road crossing and scent pad 15yd after article - he struggled with the road crossing, the article was missing, he zig zagged around where the article had been and then he tracked okay on the rest of the leg and did a good turn.
Leg 3 - article and scent pad 12 yards after - good tracking to article, good article indication, after the scent pad he went off the rails, had to shorten the line to 6’, good turn
Leg 4 - great tracking with 6’ of line, good article indications
The age did not seem to affect his tracking. This is about how he usually does at this farm. He doesn’t usually struggle with road crossings, so that was new. His start and turns 2 and 3 were great.

Overall, super! You need three blind turns next time in class with zero markers. First turn -did he overshoot and come back or was it acute or was it just the gopro? I like that you moved up closer on the last leg. And I would say cut the Good Boy. You are supporting his decisions with your feet/motion. Unless he really bombs, zip it sister.
ReplyDeleteI think MAM are sisters separated at birth. Agree with everything, especially that last sentence!
ReplyDeleteOK, awesome start, first turn didn't offend me at all. Notice at~ 2'20" he stops, huffs, and immediately goes to the track and takes it. Make note of that. Most dogs have a behavior that says. "OK, I've figured it out." It's good to know what it is (Gus always gave a full body shake, and then confidently took the track). I learned to trust the behavior that followed a full body shake. Not blind trust, but i was pretty darn confident. I liked that he never stopped working at the first turn....and that makes it not a problem. He worked, he solved the problem, and he went on happily with no loss of energy or enthusiasm. Ditto the road crossing.
