1/19/25. Short tracks around fences and woods
1/19/25. Laid these short tracks one at a time, ran him within 5 minutes and put him in the car to marinate while I laid the next one. Food drops varied between 10-15 steps apart. He got better with each track. Track #1. Struggled at the turn into tall cover https://youtu.be/imxw4lYuoHA?feature=shared Track #2 short track from tall cover to short towards fence https://youtu.be/bA4Q4ZZpGu4?feature=shared Track #3 Between 2 fences towards woods https://youtu.be/R9EverPLGJ8?feature=shared Track #4 Parallel woods and turn away https://youtu.be/88B4jnpOJYc?feature=shared

I like that you kept quiet. I like that you are backing up when he comes toward you. I thought there was some good tracking. I know he struggled with a few of the turns and you had to restrain him, but he is working through it.
ReplyDeleteHere's what I would like to see: I would like to see you closer to him when he is tracking (you can always play line at the turns especially since you know where they are), I would like to see you offering him water EVERY article, I would like to see a food drop after every turn and every article - the distance can vary so he is not expecting it every time at say 35 yards (or use an article as a reward for making a nice turn), I would like to see a 'turn' track that mimics the example on the website where it is a stairstep pattern 50L/50R/50L/50R etc. I think you can get a good stairstep in at Pocahontas. Article indication is good, I would concentrate on the restart with a command and again, offer water. It will absolutely save your butt in a test so start practicing it now.
