 2/16/25. Endurance Track

Thoughts: weather forecast looks like we may not be tracking next week

Training is not a linear progression and we are in a dip on turns right now

I did not want to go too close to the owner’s house so I put turns in this track. I put a food drop every 40-50 yards.

Ground was saturated, spongy, wet. Wind was gusting and rain was coming.

I need to work on his stamina with long walks and woods running.

  1. I like your line tension a ton better on leg 3 vs leg 1. Work to get more consistent with line tension. Leg 1 looks like a stroll in the park, slack, like you know where the track goes. I'm confident if it were blind you would be using tension to make him convince you.
First turn, your instincts are correct to back up as his search brings him toward you. I would back up more. Your back up is better leg 2 and 3. You were smart to shorten your line as he got tired and the track and rows crossed.
And the water and rescent, perfection.
Don't fret over snow. I personally think both of you can use a break. Yes work on building his stamina. If he can be free/off leash at this site, you and your husband could walk 100+ yds apart and call him back and forth between you. I got Carol and Rae to do that with Bean. Carol on one side of their property, Rae on the other. Bean runs back and forth. Her place is fenced if you can't trust him to come. 10 acres. She would welcome you.
