  1. Nice job working in some practice on this skill! I love that you kept your track design with simple components so that you could focus just on line handling! I'll leave it to Judi and/or MAM to answer the question about standing on the turn before you see loss of scent. Nice job letting the line play out before going with him though.

  2. That was just lovely. Perfect start—he clearly made the decision and took you. I don’t see you stopping too soon at the turn, but do (as another training idea) step 2-3 steps straight ahead after he’s given you loss of scent….just to teach him you can’t be trusted😉. I love the turn—he took it, you waited (I’ll bet your heart was pounding!) and then you applied pressure—he kept going—and followed. Just lovely! And nice line handling—you kept if off the ground, and under some degree of pressure, the entire track. Well done.

Now, could you feel the difference?

  3. A+.
I know you think I am being hard on you but, he's too good to let things slide. His article indication is fading. What used to be an enthusiastic down is now a slow sit. Please do an article track that follows the set up shown under the TRAINING tab. Food drops between the articles should be 'not exciting' - so kibble or baby milk bones or cheese, nothing exciting. Reward for DOWNS at articles should be pork tenderloin or rotisserie chicken or grilled steak. Have the tenderloin loose in your vest pocket, no digging. Get him to down at the start flag even if you have to put your hand on his shoulder to remind him, then say "good down, what a smart boy, good down', then put the tenderloin ON the article. Another piece on the article, good down. Then pick up the article, play the line out and watch him as he motors to the second article. Hopefully for articles 2 through ten, he will down with the idea that tenderloin is coming. We are just trying to tighten it up, he's too good to fade to a dog that just turns around and stares - my heart cannot take another passive 'look' from a talented team. Get on it.
