2/27/25. Blind Hangman - phone view https://youtu.be/eGHwtjU4ANI?feature=shared At 1:29 I saw the head turn and he looked back at me so I slowed down and put a little pressure on the line. Go Pro view https://youtu.be/QFmWaBCJbFs?feature=shared Great head turn and stare at me at 1:37, 1:38. I think I should have stopped instead of slowed down?? 60 degrees, gusts up to 29 mph, 46% humidity Laid at 9:25, ran at 10:40ish Good start, good articles, stayed with track The random gloves that were 5 yds past the end of the hangman drew him forward and then he is used to continuing on straight after finding an article, so he went straight on. Andrea stopped us and then we did the back up routine until he found the leg. I was happy with our overall performance.
OK. Sadly, it’s time to start getting picky. Did you see you ‘correct’ him at the start while you tried to pocket the article? Practice that skill without the dog!!! First turn—absolutely perfect. He didn’t need you AT ALL. This is a good thing! Loved the article placement after ?second? Turn (toplisted video). He made the turn without you and the track told him he was correct. PERFECT. Lovely track recovery after the article. Please put a SP with food after that to reward him for the refind. NICE HUSSLE after the turn! By letting him take 100% of the responsibility you’ve added pressure/stress (potentially). By getting back up there you’re supporting him, taking the pressure off, so he has the confidence to take over again. Well done. The whole thing was just perfect! When you do this again, try to step off in both directions so he has to refind to the left and the right. Really nice training Ellen!
ReplyDeletei would say at the start to practice standing still while you pick up the article AND PLAY THE LINE TO 20 ft - just like you will have to do in a trial (between those flags all requirements apply). keep your eyes on him but pick up that article and let the line get to 20, then step forward and hustle up to 10. he needs to know that he starts and you have to play the line out. nice work.
ReplyDeleteLooked good and nice job following the instructions for the turns!
