1/19/25. Short tracks around fences and woods
1/19/25. Laid these short tracks one at a time, ran him within 5 minutes and put him in the car to marinate while I laid the next one. Food drops varied between 10-15 steps apart. He got better with each track. Track #1. Struggled at the turn into tall cover https://youtu.be/imxw4lYuoHA?feature=shared Track #2 short track from tall cover to short towards fence https://youtu.be/bA4Q4ZZpGu4?feature=shared Track #3 Between 2 fences towards woods https://youtu.be/R9EverPLGJ8?feature=shared Track #4 Parallel woods and turn away https://youtu.be/88B4jnpOJYc?feature=shared

air scenting or looking around? i'm not sure which. but for me, this should be his last snow track. he has had a good experience, we know he can do it, now stop before he becomes more visual than we would like.
ReplyDeleteAt 1:02…can you see him saying, “damn it. It was easier in the snow.”? The peeing was totally a “damn it” moment! So today you got to see why I don’t train a lot in the snow. Snow is EASY PEASY. And it’s not because they can see it! Be prepared…he’s got some tough days ahead as this melts and he has to go back to the “hard” grass. Double walk. Add food. Get him back in the grass game. And 100% what MAM said—no more snow for him. Your handling/long line use was simply stellar. Well done. And he gets a well deserved break until your tracking areas are 80% grass, 20% snow. And then, for all that is holy, make them easy and reinforcing!
