1/19/25. Short tracks around fences and woods
1/19/25. Laid these short tracks one at a time, ran him within 5 minutes and put him in the car to marinate while I laid the next one. Food drops varied between 10-15 steps apart. He got better with each track. Track #1. Struggled at the turn into tall cover https://youtu.be/imxw4lYuoHA?feature=shared Track #2 short track from tall cover to short towards fence https://youtu.be/bA4Q4ZZpGu4?feature=shared Track #3 Between 2 fences towards woods https://youtu.be/R9EverPLGJ8?feature=shared Track #4 Parallel woods and turn away https://youtu.be/88B4jnpOJYc?feature=shared

Woohoo! OK…now…he did GREAT single laid, so let’s go back to double. About every 10th training session (I pulled that number out of thin air), if he’s been tracking well, toss in a single laid track. When he’s had 1-2 more that went as well as today (so probably in a month) we will bump up the frequency. I SO don’t want to break what we have!
ReplyDeleteLet’s add a third turn. Three turns means just one track. And now you can start the training rotation: rotate through starts (4 Ls, suggest running them at fresh, 15”, 30” 45”….next time 15, 30, 45, 60); next time out, your three turns; next time articles; next time duration—as far as you can go with only one turn, up to 600 yards. You can do those in any order, but I strongly encourage you systematically run through those 4 training tracks.
