2/27/25. Blind Hangman - phone view https://youtu.be/eGHwtjU4ANI?feature=shared At 1:29 I saw the head turn and he looked back at me so I slowed down and put a little pressure on the line. Go Pro view https://youtu.be/QFmWaBCJbFs?feature=shared Great head turn and stare at me at 1:37, 1:38. I think I should have stopped instead of slowed down?? 60 degrees, gusts up to 29 mph, 46% humidity Laid at 9:25, ran at 10:40ish Good start, good articles, stayed with track The random gloves that were 5 yds past the end of the hangman drew him forward and then he is used to continuing on straight after finding an article, so he went straight on. Andrea stopped us and then we did the back up routine until he found the leg. I was happy with our overall performance.
Whats the problem? Just bring that dog to training every day….🤣. OK, first, some feedback on your comments. I’m fine with the speed on the food track—this is NOT a timed event. Speed kills (ask Mary Ann). His turns were both PERFECT. It’s highly unlikely he will simply follow the turn—he will rather indicate loss of scent, search for the scent, find it and follow it. He did that perfectly both tracks. We don’t know why he cast off (we can’t say he was crittering, cuz he didn’t find a critter), but he DID come back and clearly indicate where the track went. that is the goal. They will often cast off…the question is, do they return to work? He did. Perfectly. So let’s repeat this exact same 2 tracks again and see if we get the same dog. This is the dog I remember us starting. We need to figure out how to pull this dog out 90% of the time. He’s trying to tell us, we need to listen. Let’s see it again, and see, it he’s different, what else was different. I know he wants to play whatever game we want…our goal is to figure out where we are failing to communicate!
