9/15/23 Bart’s field -  sunny, light breeze - 8:00 am - 60 degrees - dew on grass - grass height goes from 6 inches to 12 inches- Goals for today’s session: 1. experimenting with doing a track and then Scentwork search right after 2. and also corners.  No food on track (ants) fed from my pocket at each indicated article. Ball reward at end of session.



  1. He was enthusiastic, pulling hard, trying not to run behind him, but had to. 
  2. He found and indicated the end articles with a down.
  3. Starts were great. I remembered to put his harness on at the start line.
Questions for Judi:

  1. He tracks off to the side of the track, is that okay?
  2. Second corner was overshot, he got lost and circled back to lay at my feet. Then I pointed him in the direction of the track and he cut the corner and took off. Am I supposed to help him like that??
Experiment results:
He did the Scentwork searches with no problem. Used different harnesses but same lead.

I think I should have stopped instead of slowed down?? 60 degrees, gusts up to 29 mph, 46% humidity     Laid at 9:25, ran at 10:40ish Good start, good articles, stayed with track The random gloves that were 5 yds past the end of the hangman drew him forward and then he is used to continuing on straight after finding an article, so he went straight on. Andrea stopped us and then we did the back up routine until he found the leg. I was happy with our overall performance.
